Member of Parliament for Agona East Constituency in the Central Region, Mrs Queenstar Pokuah Sawyerr, has described as ridiculous claims by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the monies she was distributing to the beneficiaries are just a stack of papers while at the same time accusing her of distributing money for votes.

She stated that three weeks ago when the first distribution was done, members of the ruling NPP went to town and accused her of distributing papers because she has no money.
She stressed that she, therefore, decided to take the money along during the second distribution so she could demonstrate to the NPP and those who claimed she had packed papers in the boxes that indeed she is giving out physical cash.
She said Prof Yankah, the NPP Candidate and his members have been dazed by the support she is giving to petty trades to expand their businesses hence their accusations she is sharing money to court votes because it is close to elections.
“So this is a loan scheme and we have an account at the Kwanyako Rural Bank. They can go and check the MPLS, it is there,” she said.
According to her, the activity she is engaged in did not start today as the Maame Pokuah Loan Scheme (MPLS) has been in operation and supporting women for the past 12 years.
According to Hon. Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr, her passion for assisting the women in the constituency is to help roll out poverty from the constituency adding that women have the power to kick it out.

Hon. Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr said in approving the consideration of the loan was given to women who were willing to work and aggressive to promote and expand their businesses to support their families.

Hon. Queenstar Maame Pokua Sawyerr disclosed that she will soon come out with the establishment of entrepreneurs’ skilled centre, to train entrepreneurs in the Agona East constituency on business and risk management.

“Last year I did it, two years ago I did it, three years ago I did it and four years I did it though my party is not in power.”
“For this year, I should have done it sometime in September, however, because of the Coronarivus disease (COVID-19), I had to do the distribution in bits.”
Beneficiaries were very happy for the kind gesture and expressed their gratitude to Hon. Queenstar Pokuah Sawyerr and urged her to continuously offer help to women especially in rural areas as they are the foundation of the local economy.

‘Hon. Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr is God sent to the people of Agona East. She is loving, caring, generous and God-fearing. It’s for that reason we call her Obaatanpa’ one of the beneficiaries revealed.
