The Akim Swedru Circuit Court has sentenced Patricia Gador, a woman who pleaded guilty to stealing a newborn baby from a neighbor to a one year jail imprisonment with hard labour.
The 22-year-old lady who pleaded guilty to charges of abduction and endangering the life of an infant was shocked at the sentence though others expected a more cruel punishment.
Ms. Patricia Gador who is a mother of 2 kids, is said to have indulged in such act for long and until her arrest, was reported not to have suffered from any mental depression as considered by some natives of the town.
She is reported to have been disappointed by a 22 year old Grace Bador, whom per an earlier agreement between the two was to be given to the convict’s brother for marriage but only to end up being deceived hence her action.
The Court presided by His Honor Alexander Oworae, pronounced a one year imprisonment with hard labor to the convict saying she deserved a longer prison term but per her two kids, was given such light punishment which could deter others from such crime.
