*National Youth and Women Conference and Elikem Kotoko’s Injunction: Leadership Must Act Now*

Leadership of the *Youth for Democracy (YfD)* has followed, keenly the preventable misunderstanding between Elikem Kotoko and the party’s Vetting and Appeals Committees over his disqualification from the National Youth Organizer contest.

We are deeply go about this development, and wish to call on the party to as a matter of urgency take steps to engage Elikem Kotoko to resolve issues of concern to both parties to enable the weekend’s National Youth and Women Conference take place without the party and its agents being in contempt of the court.

We have followed Elikem Kotoko since the news of his disqualification broke out. He has proven to be a comrade by exhibiting a very high level of maturity and tact in handling the issue in the media. Unfortunately however, little has been heard from the party apart from its agents including Lawyer Amaliba whose posture on the issue in the media has been unfriendly.

*YfD* leadership has sighted court documents granting a 10 day injunction period to Elikem Kotoko restricting the party from carrying on with its Youth and Women Conference scheduled for this weekend.

As a party in opposition, we are already late with electing our national officers and the least we should entertain at this time is to allow a case which could be resolved in-house to distract our timetable once more. It is against this backdrop that the *YfD* calls on leadership of the party to as a matter of urgency take immediate steps to engage Elikem Kotoko whom we are reliably informed has met the party’s founder yesterday and is bent on proceeding with the necessary court actions to ensure the conference do not come off as scheduled.

We are a family, and we should not be seen to be fighting among ourselves. The party needs Elikem, and Elikem needs the party for us to work together for victory come 2020. Engage Elikem Kotoko now, resolve issues of concern in-house for a peaceful Youth and Women Conference.
