The Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh says that the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has only one Vice-Chancellor (VC) in the person of Reverend Father Professor Anthony Afful-Broni.
According to the minister, the university cannot and does not have any other VC apart from the one occupying the seat.

“I say without hesitation that there is only one Vice-Chancellor in UEW,”
Addressing the media during the meet-the-press encounter yesterday, Dr. Prempeh said: “There is only one legal, legitimate Vice-Chancellor at UEW. He is Reverend Afful-Broni. Anybody who does not understand must go through the legal process. We are not going to accept such things.”
The UEW has been centre of chaos following attempts to restore former VC of the institution, Prof Mawutor Avoke who was removed from office for certain infractions.
He has, however being cleared by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
Last Tuesday, Prof. Avoke made an attempt to go back to his former position but was prevented by security operatives.
Dr. Prempeh said that if what was going on at UEW is allowed to fester, anybody at all could rise up and takeover the Flagstaff House and say he is the President.
The Education Minister’s position is expected to bring sanity to the university that is in the news for wrong reasons.
Dr. Prempeh was the same person who brought peace to the UEW when there were factions working against the interest of the university.
