The Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, yesterday gave an account of progress that the ministry has chalked in recent times.
At a press encounter, the minister took his time to tell the media about the present and future.
One thing that came out at the encounter was an attempt by section of the media to ambush the sector with irrelevant questions just to set him up against the public.
The plan could not materialize as minister took his time to all question fired at him.
The highest point of his delivery was the revelation that Teacher Trainees from 2019 will begin to graduate with degrees.
According to the Minister, the decision was part of reforms in teaching to ensure quality education delivery.
He disclosed that students seeking to attend any of the 46 Teacher Training Colleges would have to apply through the universities.
Dr. Prempeh said that the reforms were part of the government’s vision to transform the education delivery system to meet the needs of a 21st century economy.
“We want to produce a skilled and confident workforce to drive the nation’s agenda for industrialization and modernization,” he said
