The Minister of Energy, Mr. John Peter Amewu says his ministry will closely monitor the activities of electricity handlers, Power Distribution Services (PDS).
According to the minister, PDS would not be allowed to do things their own way at the expense of electricity consumers.
The minister’s position comes at wake of explanation by the PDS that power outages in some parts of Accra were caused by rainfall.
Mr. Amewu said that the electricity consumer would always be a topmost priority of the Ministry of Energy.
“PDS will be watched and monitored very closely so that consumer satisfaction will be offered to the consumers,” he said.
Mr. Amewu reiterated his earlier position that the nation will not experience prolonged dumsor under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He, therefore, assured Ghanaians that the energy ministry will work in the interest of Ghanaians as it has always done.
“The Ministry of Energy has the consumer at the heart of its activities and will always take steps to protect the interest of consumers,” he said.
Energy experts say that the explanation offered by PDS was simply uncalled for after issues surrounding the current outages were fully addressed and explained by the Ministry of Energy.
