The Member of Parliament (MP), for Agona East Constituency in the Central Region of Ghana, Hon Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr (Mrs) has launched a mobile health scheme for her constituents dubbed “Maame Pokuah Health Scheme” at Agona Faahwia in the Agona East district.
In an interview with tnpnewsonline.com, Hon Pokuah Sawyerr said our health is at the center of our life and that every part of our life relies on the individual having good health.
She explained that one cannot go higher in all the areas of life if you do not have enough physical energy to devote to each of them adding ‘your health is your life.
According to her, the health of her constituents is her topmost priority and would do everything possible to provide good health care facilities for them.
The Maame Pokuah Health Scheme was officially launched by Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang- 2020 Vice Presidential Candidate of the NDC at a colourful ceremony.
The climax of the programme was the free deworming of children from various villages and the maiden free health screening for hundreds of women, children and men.
Moved by the MP’s gesture, the following individuals donated to support the purchase of drugs to make the initiative very sustainable.
Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang gave GHc5,000, Comrade Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams donated GHc3,000, Dr Richard Asiedu- GHc2,000 and Hon Sam Kwesi Fletcher also donated GHc2,000.
Since it was a health programme for the health needs of the good people of Agona East, the Agona East District Health Directorate was fully represented by Miss Dora Jones Fayia – District Director of Health, Major Richmond Obeng Appau- Administrator of Salvation Army Hospital, Dr Bismark Gyedu Nyarko- Optometrist of Salvation Army Hospital, Aaron Gyamfi – Pharmacy Technician, Mr Asante Offei- Agona East District Health Directorate Accountant, Martha Opoku Kyerewaa- District Health Promotion Officer, Mr Benjamin Dadson – District Disease Control Officer, Irene Okobeah Mensah- District HIV/AIDS Officer and Mr Eric Dadson- District Public Health Nurse and Nurse Manager among other health professionals.
Some of the Chiefs present during the launch were Osabarima Bishop Boappiah Afiriyie II- Omanhen of Nsaba Traditional Area, Nana Ekufful IV- Omankrado of Agona Nyakrom representing Okofo Katakyi Nyarku Eku X, Ohemaa Afua Nyakoa II- Agona Asafo, Nana Foh – Agona Faahwia, Nana Adu Peseko- Guantoahene of Agona Nyakrom, Nana Odiakopa Arkoh- Gyaasehene of Nsaba Traditional Area and other Sub Chiefs as well as Queen mothers from the towns in Agona East.
The NDC was also fully represented by the National Chairman – Hon Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Deputy General Secretary- Hon Lawyer Barbara Serwaah Asamoah, Deputy National Communication Director- Hon Obuobia Darko-Opoku, Regional Vice Chairman – Hon Theophilus Aidoo Mensah, Regional Deputy Secretary – Comrade Kofi Matthew, Regional Communication Officer – Ɔwɛnfoba Kwesi Dawood, Regional Youth Organizer- Comrade Eric Dadson, Regional Women Organizer- Comrade Faustina Naa Lamley Lamptey and Deputy Regional Communication Officer- Comrade Lawrence Kwesi Ghartey, Constituency Executives from both Agona East West.
